Software Engineering Intern

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative, and detail-oriented individual for a Software Engineering Internship in Lewis Center, OH. This is a great opportunity to develop your programming skills, learn from industry leading engineers, and enhance your academic learning.

As a Software Engineering Intern, a typical day might include the following:

• Supporting SEL’s software development process.

• Verifying that software meets requirements.

• Implementing firmware/software design.

• Providing support to engineering staff as needed.

• Following engineering quality assurance procedures.

This job might be for you if: 

• You are a current student pursuing a BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent with at least three years of technical coursework completed.

• You are able to work part time during the school year and full time during the summer.

• You have programming experience in Python, GO, C++ or equivalent programming language.

• You have experience with Linux OS.

• You are able to execute and document defined testing procedures.

• You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.

• You are able to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.

• You are able to work cooperatively in a team environment.

• You have background check results satisfactory to SEL.

• You have negative drug test result(s).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using scripting languages, such as Python, Javascript, Perl, Ruby.

• Practical knowledge of developing Microsoft Windows applications.

• Knowledge of SQL and database concepts.

• Experience using revision control and source code management systems such as Git, Mercurial, SVN, and Rational ClearCase.

Pay range: $17.00 - $28.50 per hour. Our intern pay is determined based on the internship role (the work you would be doing) and your year in school (when you plan to graduate). Talk to your recruiter if you are curious about the rate for your year in school.
