Cost Accountant, Senior

Function:

We are looking for a Senior Cost Accountant who will report to the Accounting Supervisor based locally. In this role you will be part of the Regional Accounting Team in performing site cost accounting activities and analysis for major projects at the Mogas Houston, TX plant, supporting Finance Business Partners and Operations leadership to provide insight, consultation, and governance.

Scope of Responsibility:

The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for performing site cost accounting activities and is responsible for supporting the local accounting/finance structure, focusing on process and efficiency, improvement, and analyzing costs in the local ERP.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Perform site cost accounting activities
• Working with Project Management to analyze and evaluate costs for POC projects
• Supporting the Accounting Supervisor and Finance Business Partners in the  calculation of standards, calculating rates and costing standards.
• Exploring and analyzing root causes of cost-related business operations issues and variances
• Participating in Project Review Meetings to identify information for Revenue accounting records and calculations.
• Reconciling month-end bookings and assisting with documentation and ad hoc reporting.
• Working cross functionally with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Planning, Project Management and Engineering teams.
• Performing account reconciliations and journal entries
• Ensuring accurate transacting and reporting with the Business Services Center (BSC)

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• 5+ years relevant cost accounting experience in an industrial manufacturing company
• Proficiency in Excel and other MS Office products.
• Knowledge of and familiarity with US GAAP.
• Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills; ability to apply judgement.
• Clear and concise communications skills.
• Ability to challenge the norm and look for better solutions/processes, attention to detail.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

• Experience with Syteline ERP preferred but not a must have
• Experience SAP
