Chemical/Container Preparation Assistant - SEOP

The Summer Employment Opportunity Program (SEOP) provides temporary summer employment opportunities to children, step-children and spouses of Mayo Clinic employees enrolled in a college degree granting program of study and is intended to help supervisors accommodate employee vacation requests when seasonal work volumes are high.
Responsibilities
As a Chemical/Container Preparation Assistant you will enjoy working with a collaborative, high-energy, quality focused team. As a member of the Preparation & Processing Team you will support the clinical and development laboratories by:
- Preparing reagents
- Performing quality checks of laboratory water and containers
- Performing pipette validation
- Prioritizing, scheduling, and delivery of containers
- Washing and sterilizing laboratory glassware and equipment that are contaminated with biological waste
- Picking-up and returning of processed items to laboratories using carts to move glassware throughout the building and to other locations on campus
- Decontaminating biological waste for the department
- Good walking shoes required
Extensive, on-the-job training will be provided to you.
**This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
- Associate degree OR High School Diploma/GED AND two years of work experience including clinical laboratory and/or other relevant work experience.
• Must be a child, step-child, or spouse of a current Mayo Clinic employee.
• Must be currently enrolled in a degree granting program.
• Must be returning to college in the fall.
• Must be able to work a minimum of 10 weeks.
• Must be 18 years of age or older by the start of the program
SEOP employees should not expect vacation/days-off to be approved during their commitment.

- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or Business Administration is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate with a team for problem resolution.
- Ability to maintain a high level of quality and accuracy.
