WIDA is a research and development center at the University of Wisconsin–Madison focused on advancing educational equity for multilingual learners. Through research, professional learning, and instructional resources, WIDA supports educators and systems that serve multilingual learners worldwide.

Qualifications:

Required:
Current graduate student at UW–Madison (Master’s or PhD program)
Full professional fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively on a research team
Demonstrated experience with education, linguistics, bilingualism, or related fields

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with qualitative or quantitative research methods
Familiarity with tools such as NVivo, Dedoose, SPSS, R, or similar
Background in K–12 education, multilingual learner research, or bilingual program models
Strong academic writing skills in both English and Spanish

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge: Education, linguistics, bilingualism, or related fields; qualitative and/or quantitative research methods; K–12 education; multilingual learner research; or bilingual program models; research software and tools such as NVivo, Dedoose, SPSS, R, or similar.

Skills: Bilingual English and Spanish, organizational skills, attention to detail, academic writing in English and Spanish, research (qualitative and/or quantitative data collection, analysis, interpretation)

Ability: Work independently, collaborate effectively as part of a research team, communicate effectively in both English and Spanish, manage multiple tasks, and maintain accuracy in research activities

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Key Responsibilities:
Support qualitative and/or quantitative research activities, including:
Data collection, transcription, coding, and analysis
Literature reviews and synthesis of research findings
Support for survey development, interview protocols, and research instruments
Assist in the preparation of manuscripts, reports, presentations, and other dissemination materials
Participate in project meetings, document decisions, and manage project logistics

Review Spanish- and English-language materials for clarity, accuracy, and linguistic/cultural appropriateness
Provide research support in areas such as bilingual education, newcomer students, dually identified students, and/or literacy development
