Your Specific Responsibilities:

 

  • Time sheet and EAR entry within the required time frame
  • Subject to emergency duty in the event of a natural disaster
  • Completion of all mandatory or assigned trainings within the required time frame

 

Daily Duties -

Patient Care:

 

Will set up and clean own rooms, and sterilize instruments.

Reviews medical history and documents according to policy, performs charting and head and neck screening.

Takes appropriate radiographs according to clinic guidelines.

Provides dental prophylaxis on children and adults.

Provides sealants according to CDC criteria.

Provides scaling and root planning if prescribed by dentist.

Apply topical fluoride, silver diamine and Varnish XT as indicated.

Provide applicable oral hygiene instructions for parent and patient as indicated both verbally and in writing.

Will consult with dentist for referral of treatment beyond scope of practice.

Will inform dentist and patient/guardian of any untoward incidents regarding patient and document appropriately.

Will practice according to OSHA and DOH standards.

Accurately documents all clinical notes per dental clinic guidelines and in spreadsheet.

Completes encounter form for each patient per dental clinic guidelines.

Keeps and inventories adequate supplies.

Plans and conducts dental screenings and oral health projects including school-based sealants and cleanings as directed.

May perform dental assisting if directed by supervisor.

 

Other duties:

Works with the dentist to provide excellent patient care.

Works with CF dental assisting students as directed.

Travels to and from school settings to perform duties if directed.

Participates in office meetings.

Complies with all DOH policy including training.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of dental terminology

Knowledge of dental hygiene principles and practices

Skills in using dental instruments and equipment and performing dental prophylaxis and scaling and root planning

Ability to instruct patients in preventive dental techniques,

Ability to communicate effectively

Ability to manage time so can adequately treat patients but still treat the number of patients needed and in a timely manner

Ability to work with dentists, assistants, student assistants and volunteers in a way that promotes teamwork and the betterment of the residents of Marion County

Ability to be proactive and anticipate upcoming needs and trends as they relate to dental hygiene and the clinic in general.

Qualifications:

Minimum -  

Must have a clear and current Florida Dental Hygiene license

Must have a current/active CPR certificate

 

Preferred -  

Bilingual
