General Description and Classification Standards
The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport EMS Clinic is a Level IV urgent care clinic serving the people who work in and utilize the airport. This clinic receives both walk in patients as well as callers to the 911 system deemed appropriate for non-traditional prehospital care.
The Registered Nurse (RN) works collaboratively as an active member of the interprofessional team to provide therapeutic patient-centered care. The RN assists in developing and executing the plan of care, provides physical and psychological support to patients, participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives, departmental training and preparedness exercises and assumes responsibility for pursuing professional development.

- Conducts an initial patient assessment, collecting data regarding patient’s immediate condition via primary triage or handoff receipt from EMS crews.
- Executes nursing interventions, collaborating with the interprofessional team and incorporating appropriate standards of care and practice.
- Evaluates the patient’s response to plan of care and interventions and works in collaboration with the interprofessional team to make any needed adjustments.
- Communicates with the interprofessional team clearly and promptly regarding patient condition, concerns, response to treatment and all other matters salient to patient care and clinic operations.
- Documents nursing assessments and interventions thoroughly and in a timely manner.
- Provides individualized patient counseling and education based on the care plan and outcomes.
- Provides care that is safe, ethical, patient-centered, evidence-based, non-judgmental, non-discriminatory and culturally appropriate.
- Maintains confidentiality in accordance with all state and federal health care statutes in matters related to patient care, and appropriate professional discretion in matters related to staff and clinic operations.
- Maintains professional competency in the nursing specialty through educational workshops, publication review and other appropriate methods of knowledge and skills advancement.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (transcript and diploma required)
- Current BLS, ACLS and PALS accreditation (credentials required)
- Evidence of a minimum of 1 year of nursing experience in emergency medicine or urgent care within the past two years
Licensures and Certifications
Current Georgia license in good standing, and proof of good standing in all other states where licenses are held
