Residential Camp Program Specialist

For almost 20  years, Avid4 Adventure has empowered kids to live active outdoor lifestyles through our unique outdoor programming. We are hiring an Overnight Camp Program Specialist for our Windy Peak (Grade 6-12) Overnight Camp! In this role you will be leading  multiple activities across camp to provide the best possible experience for our campers. This is an incredible opportunity for someone looking to make a lasting impact for hundreds of campers this summer. 

In this role you will

• Plan and lead evening events, ceremonies, morning clubs, and execute creative dining hall meals/themes in conjunction with kitchen staff.

• Lead a variety of residential camp programming including archery, mountain boarding, tree climbing, low ropes course, crafts, rec areas, hammocking and slacklining and more. 

• Needs to be flexible, able to take initiative, and good risk management skills.

• Substitute in for instructors and supervisors throughout the season to ensure coverage and regular time off for staff. 

• Serve as a role model and guide campers by exhibiting appropriate behavior, attitudes, and activities. Be a highly engaged and positive culture-builder!

• Follow and educate campers on safety protocols to ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants. 

• Help with gear maintenance, inventory of gear, and any other task assigned as directed by camp leadership. 

Your Background

• Minimum 18 years of age by the start of camp training. 

• 1+ years of experience working at a resident camp is strongly preferred. Must have experience leading engaging culture-building activities for youth.  

• CPR and Wilderness First Aid certification is required before the start of camp (we can point you in the right direction to get this done!) 

Important Details

• Work Schedule: Overnight camps are a 24/7 operation. The leadership team will create a schedule that provides you with one evening off/week and segments of other time off throughout the week.

• Position Duration: Training begins May 26; overnight camp programs run from June 9 through August 2.

• Compensation: Pay is determined based on position, additional responsibilities, relevant certifications, and staff tenure. Starting hourly are below: 

  • Program Specialist: $422.10/week

  • Eligible for an additional 3% pay increase conditional on completion of driver training. 

  • Relevant Certification Bonuses: $125 - $400 per certification (up to $1,000)
