LAN/Media Support Technician
Role: Responsible for the performance and operation of both PC and LAN based systems including hardware, software, printing, telecommunication equipment. Identifies, prioritizes, and resolves network related tasks and end user help requests. Also, coordinates and promotes the use of audio-visual/video equipment and materials by faculty, staff, students and patrons for classroom usage and GC related projects and assignments.
The rate for this position is $18.00 per hour.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- 55% Provides PC/user support. Implements, supports, and maintains system applications on servers, desktops, laptops, and tablets. Schedules installations/upgrades and provides system maintenance in accordance with IT procedures. Works with Active Directory, MS Windows Server, MS Windows, Google G Suite, and Office 365 to manage user and group policies, and insure compliance with college security policies. Implements approved operating system enhancements and recommends systems modifications to reduce user problems. Installs, Implements, Maintains, and Troubleshoots A/V delivery systems used on campus, including audio, video, and data networking technologies associated with the A/V systems, comprising routers, switches, video codecs, microphone/sound systems, video production boards, projectors and a variety of electronic media equipment.
- 10% Facilitates all on campus and off campus scheduled special events requiring A/V technology both during and after normal hours. Receives and processes requests for equipment from faculty, staff, and students; determines availability of media equipment and arranges for delivery and pick-up after use.
- 10% Upgrades desktop and laptop computers with RAM, hard drives, network interface cards, etc.
- 10% Ensures data/media recoverability by executing a schedule of server backups and database archive operations utilizing Veeam running within a MS Hyper-V hosting environment.
- 5% Interacts with other support groups to restore service and/or identify and correct end-user computing problems.
- 5% Operates ITV, point-to-point, and web-based teleconferencing equipment and software, as required.
- 5% Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Experience: Six months to two years of similar or related experience.
- Education: (1) A two year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
- Interpersonal Skills: Work normally involves contacts with persons beyond immediate associates generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (students, visitors or vendors) requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.
- Other Skills: Significant experience installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting Windows desktop and laptop computers. Experience in using PC imaging software, including Adobe Suite as well as Microsoft Operating systems, especially Windows Server 2012R2, Windows Server 2016, Windows 7, Windows 10, and Microsoft Office.
