Summary: The Director of Accounting is responsible for leading and scaling the accounting and reporting functions to support the growth and operational excellence of the Company. This role will execute financial strategy, ensure compliance, optimize cash flow, and provide strategic insights to support decision-making across the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist in the development and execution of financial strategies aligned with business objectives, including pricing models, cost optimization, and capital investments.
• Partner with operations, sales, and supply chain to ensure alignment with financial goals and commercial and manufacturing strategies.
• Partner with FP&A to provide insight and analysis relevant to business operations.
• Oversee operational and technical accounting.
• Assist CFO with management of banking relationships, credit facilities, and insurance programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
• Own the financial reporting function and develop a comprehensive internal and external reporting package.
• Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, audit preparation, and tax compliance.
• Establish internal controls and implement process improvements to ensure integrity and efficiency in accounting practices.
• Support cost accounting and margin analysis for manufacturing operations, including product costing, capacity utilization, and pricing strategy.
• Collaborate with the plant operations team to drive gross margin improvement and cost savings initiatives.
• Provide financial leadership for capital expenditure planning, ROI analysis, and business case development.
• Assist with the execution of strategic initiatives and other projects as assigned.
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing accounting team
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications:
• Deep knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SysPro, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics).
• Proven ability to scale financial operations in a growth-oriented, private equity-backed organization.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence across all levels.
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field; CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
• 5 - 7+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
• Prior experience in a CMO, CDMO, or manufacturing environment, preferably in the VMS, nutraceutical, or pharmaceutical sector.
