We are seeking a strategic, data-driven leader to serve as our Director of Supply Planning—a pivotal role that ensures products are available where and when our customers need them.

 

Position Summary

 

The Director of Supply Planning will lead the end-to-end supply planning function, managing a hybrid team of central and remote planners. This role oversees inbound supply from domestic suppliers and direct-contracted import manufacturers while optimizing distribution requirements across a national network. You will design and execute supply strategies that balance service, cost, and inventory goals, partnering closely with cross-functional teams to align supply with business needs.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute monthly and quarterly supply plans aligned to forecasts, capacity constraints, and inventory targets.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3 direct and 10 indirect planners across centralized and remote locations, fostering accountability and growth.
• Manage inbound supply from domestic vendors and international manufacturers, ensuring delivery, cost, and quality objectives are met.
• Oversee Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) for 30+ distribution centers, minimizing stock-outs and excess inventory.
• Drive Master Production Scheduling (MPS) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) processes using ERP tools (SAP, Oracle, Blue Yonder, etc.).
• Collaborate with S&OP leadership to present supply scenarios, risks, and contingency strategies to executives.
• Analyze inventory performance (turns, days on hand, obsolescence) and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce working capital.
• Partner with procurement to manage capacity agreements, reduce lead times, and support seamless new product launches.
• Define and track KPIs (fill rate, forecast accuracy, supplier performance), sharing insights and trends with senior leadership.
• Implement scalable best practices, playbooks, and governance to elevate planning capabilities.
• Drive automation and digitization of planning processes, including exception management and AI-driven forecasting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive supply planning experience in retail, B2B distribution, or manufacturing, supporting 30+ DCs and 100,000+ SKUs.
• 3+ years of people leadership experience, including managing geographically dispersed teams.
• Hands-on expertise with ERP planning systems (SAP APO/IBP, Blue Yonder, Kinaxis, etc.).
• Proven success managing domestic suppliers and import manufacturers.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, SQL, or analytics platforms.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments while driving change and process improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree (MBA or Supply Chain/Operations discipline).
• APICS CPIM or CSCP certification.
• Experience implementing supply-chain digitization or AI-driven forecasting tools.
• Lean Six Sigma or related process-improvement certification.
