Description
Quality Control Technician
A. Job Identification:
Assist in maintaining the consistency of mixed concrete as well as overseeing the concrete that is being placed on jobsites. Work in the lab completing prepared mix designs, breaking concrete cylinders and all other requirements deemed necessary by the Quality Control Manager. This position reports to the Quality Control Manager.
B. Essential Job Functions:
- Oversee concrete being placed on jobsites.
- Take weekly air & slump test on trucks.
- Make cylinders of concrete on jobsite.
- Monthly gradations of all plant aggregates.
- Break cylinders in the lab and recorded all data.
- Prepare and perform mix designs.
- Investigate customer complaints and report findings to Quality Control Manager.
C. Job Requirements:
- Must be able to read, write and speak English.
- Some level of college or technical school.
- ACI level 1 Field Technician certification with at least 6 months training or experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must have desk top computer skills including spreadsheets, word processing, graphics, database maintenance and internet knowledge.
D. Physical Demands:
- Requires walking and standing for long periods of time.
- Requires ability to sit for prolonged times.
- Must be willing and able to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Kneeling, stooping and crawling may be required.
E. Environmental Conditions:
- Weather conditions such as temperature, moisture and other conditions have a significant impact on the job. Therefore, this position must tolerate, with or without reasonable accommodations, being exposed frequently to extreme weather conditions.
- Jobsites vary greatly due to weather and location conditions. The ground is usually rough, muddy or icy. This position must be able to tolerate varied work conditions.
- There are high noise levels and significant vibration associated with this position. This may be caused by the truck, construction equipment and jobsite noise. This position must be able to tolerate, with or without reasonable accommodation, intermittent exposure to noise, vibration and other aggravation conditions at or around the operating sites.
- There are other physical hazards that endanger life, health or bodily injury, such as proximity to moving, mechanical parts, falls, environmental conditions, moving equipment and other hazards.
- There is also exposure to cement, lime, concrete admixtures, dust, diesel fuel and other substances which may be toxic, cause burns or be explosive
