Job Summary

This position is part of the Financial Gas and Power Trading Team. The role is primarily responsible for-profit seeking analytics in natural gas and power options supporting the Vistra trading floor in nation-wide portfolio optimization. Overall, this position will be considered as a wholesale energy options specialist and expected to build and maintain option valuation models

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

• Financial Gas and Power Trading
• Develop and maintain option pricing models for Natural Gas and Power
• Process large amounts of fundamental and technical data to develop short and long term point of view in support to power and natural gas option trading
• Apply market knowledge and insight to make informed risk management decisions for trading book
• Portfolio Optimization Support
• Support the design and execution of corporate macro hedge strategy predominantly with gas related products as proxy for power for Vistra wide portfolio positioning
• Support the design and execution of strategies to capture extrinsic value of the Vistra generation portfolio

Education, Experience & Skill Requirements

• 1-2 years relevant experience
• 1-2 years of experience in a commercial organization supporting trading, analysis or structuring in energy space
• Experience in areas of mathematics and/or financial engineering gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills

Key Metrics

• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
• Problem solving attitude
• Technical proficiency in skills such as: Programming (Python or R), Statistical Analysis, Mathematical Modeling, Visualization, Data manipulation
• Communication skills
