About the role

Job Details

The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center (SKCC) at Jefferson Health in Philadelphia, PA and the Center for Health Equity at SKCC is excited to announce new population science tenure-track faculty positions.

We are committed to attracting and retaining a distinguished and diverse faculty. Successful candidates must demonstrate a record of research excellence appropriate to their rank as well as the ability and willingness to mentor doctoral and/or post-doctoral trainees interested in health equity in cancer. The new faculty will become core faculty members in the Cancer Risk and Control program in the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, currently made up of a group of 37 faculty members from 15 departments across Jefferson and Drexel. We are open to negotiating joint appointments with Drexel University, thanks to a newly-revised consortium agreement between Jefferson and Drexel focused on cancer research.

These positions will form a new faculty cluster focused on Cancer Health Equity and will include up to three tenure-track faculty members in addition to the existing faculty on the two campuses focused on disparities and equity. In addition to generous start-up packages offered to potential applicants, there will be additional infrastructure support for cross-school collaborations in the newly established Center for Cancer Health Equity. The Center for Cancer Health Equity is a developing entity, focused on quantitative approaches to assess the confluence of issues, both structural and social that lead to inequities in cancer health outcomes. The Center will provide infrastructure including access to EPIC-derived cohorts from 18 hospitals, quantitative staff, post-doctoral scholars, and the opportunity to advise PhD students from Drexel School of Public Health programs.

The Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center (SKCC) is an NCI-designated consortium cancer center that includes researchers from Thomas Jefferson University and Drexel University.  Recruited faculty will be provided generous start-up funds, a competitive salary, and modern facilities, along with administrative and infrastructure services. Further details can be found at: https://sidneykimmelcancercenter.jeffersonhealth.org/research.html

The SKCC at Jefferson Health is located in the heart of Philadelphia, a vibrant urban cultural science with an abundance of opportunities for professional and social interactions.  Jefferson values diversity and encourages applications from women, members of minority groups, LGBTQ individuals, disabled individuals, and veterans.  Jefferson seeks candidates whose experience, teaching, research, or community engagement has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence.
