Position Description
The Anoka County Job Training Center is devoted to contributing to the success of individuals and employers through workforce development services. They take pride in meeting customer needs and making changes in people’s lives every day!
We are currently seeking two Senior Career Counselors to join our dedicated team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for determining eligibility for public assistance and providing job placement services for individuals that are unemployed or underemployed.
Senior Career Counselors may assist with any of the following employment service programs: Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP), Diversionary Work Program (DWP), Dislocated Worker (DW), Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Adult Program, Minnesota Youth Programs and Pathways to Prosperity (P2P).
This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid position. Interviews will take place the week of 01/27/2025 for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.
Pay & Benefits
- Salary: $60,819 to $72,966 ($29.24 to $35.08 per hour).
- 2025 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 32: $60,819 to $85,113 ($29.24 to $40.92 per hour).

Work Location
- This position will work at Blaine Human Services Center, located at 1201 89th Ave NE, Blaine, MN 55434.
- This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work, with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.
- Expected work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Manage complex cases, providing tailored services for families with multiple employment barriers, diverse cultural backgrounds, and varying levels of education.
- Administer and interpret aptitude, personality, and related assessments to identify strengths and interests. Discuss results with participants to explore career pathways and develop actionable plans.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, career exploration sessions, and employment goal-setting activities, followed by the creation and implementation of detailed employment plans.
- Coordinate specialized programs for individuals with special needs to address unique employment challenges.
- Plan and facilitate group workshops on a wide range of topics, including resumes and cover letter writing, job interview techniques, networking strategies, and utilization of employment resources.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, ensuring compliance with documentation standards.
- Provide job leads, interview preparation, application, and resume support.
- Build and sustain communication with participants to motivate progress towards their career goals, providing ongoing encouragement and constructive feedback.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with public assistance and employment services program requirements, addressing discrepancies and challenges as needed.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to team members, fostering professional development and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
- Provide support to Limited English Proficient (LEP) participants, including utilizing interpreters and tailoring employment services to address language barriers.
