WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE JOB:
This Technical Product Principal, Innovation role is responsible for driving the strategy, design, and delivery of innovative technology products and solutions in partnership with Training Services. The role combines deep technical expertise with strong product management skills to ensure solutions meet business objectives, scale effectively, and deliver measurable impact.
The work location for this position is 100% virtual/work from home. While the position can be worked from anywhere in the United States, the preferred work hours are on an East Coast schedule.

Product Strategy & Vision
• Define and communicate the technical product vision and roadmap for the Innovation portfolio aligned to the Training Services mission area.
• Identify emerging technologies that can transform training delivery, learner engagement, customer support, and operations.
Technical Leadership
• Serve as the principal technical advisor for feasibility, product architecture, integration, and scalability.
• Ensure adherence to enterprise standards, security, and compliance requirements.
Product Development & Delivery
• Lead cross-functional teams through the Innovation product lifecycle—from ideation, prototyping, user testing, to productionalization or hand off.
• Translate business requirements into technical specifications and prioritize development efforts.
• Write clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria that translate business needs into technical deliverables, and lead development efforts by guiding cross-functional teams through sprint planning, execution, and delivery.
• Oversee vendor relationships and evaluate third-party solutions for technical fit.
Innovation & Research
• Conduct early-stage evaluations of proposed solutions to ensure a balanced understanding of Desirability (user and stakeholder needs), Viability (business value and sustainability), and Feasibility (technical capability and resource alignment) before committing to development.
• Conduct proof-of-concept initiatives to validate new technologies and approaches for training solutions.
• Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including American Red Cross colleagues, volunteers, and vendors.
Training
• Lead initiatives that prepare Training Services teams to effectively adopt and leverage emergent technology, ensuring staff are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and processes needed to integrate intelligent technologies into learning delivery and operations.
Governance & Metrics
• Establish KPIs to measure product performance and impact on Training Services outcomes.
• Provide regular updates to executive leadership on progress, risks, and opportunities.
