About the role

Overview

The Department of Economic Development is seeking an administrative professional to support its growing operations. The successful applicant must be able to multitask while providing general administrative, clerical, and financial support for the department's operations. Excellent organizational skills, customer service skills and attention to accuracy and detail are a must. This position will work both independently and as part of team and must be able to contribute effectively within a team environment.

 

This position will provide support to a diverse portfolio of programs and staff, be responsible for record keeping, both financial and programmatic, across various platforms, including MS Office products, and adhere to all relevant Agency and State procedures and policies. This is a Limited-Service Position to help with the Department's increased responsibilities resulting from new programs funded by State Fiscal Recovery funds made available to the state of Vermont by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) as well as to help with assistance provided to organizations impacted by the July flooding. The position is based in Montpelier with some flexibility for remote work.

Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs.

Environmental Factors

Work is performed in a standard office setting with some flexibility for remote work

Minimum Qualifications

Three years or more of full-time college level study OR a bachelor's degree in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field.

 

OR

 

Two years of full-time college level study OR an associate's degree or higher in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field AND one (1) year or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization.

 

OR

 

One year of full-time college level study in accounting, business or public administration, office administration or a related field AND two (2) years or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization.

 

OR

 

High School diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years or more of experience providing administrative-level support to a business or organization.

 

OR

 

One (1) year or more of experience as an Administrative Services Coordinator I with the State of Vermont.

 

NOTE: Only administrative work experience is qualifying. Administrative support includes those functions which keep the organization running or provide the resources for others to provide the programmatic work (e.g., accounting, budget management, grant administration, finance, human resources, payroll, purchasing, or space management).

Special Requirements

For some positions experience working with the VISION system (VISION is the State of Vermont PeopleSoft financial management system) may be required.
