What You Will Do:
We are looking for uniquely talented engineers to champion our key transformation shifts and identify new ways to advance Structural engineering. Pratt & Whitney's Hot Section Engineering (HSE) team is growing, and we are seeking experienced, creative, and motivated Structures engineer to analyze and design the next generation of rotating jet engine hardware.
Responsibilities:
- The Structures engineer will utilize state of the art analytical methods to validate the structural integrity of Hot Section rotating hardware (disks and blades).
- The engineer will be part of an integrated product team with responsibilities for executing FEMs, performing lifing analyses, and writing technical reports.
- The engineer will be directly responsible for to planning, execution and completions of GTF HPT CIPT structural analysis supporting post-certification analysis activities (may include TOW and powder nickel recovery).
- Additional responsibilities include communicating technical progress and status to various program groups, senior management, as well as internal / external customers. The candidate will also be a member of the broader HSE community and support strategic development and growth of Structures discipline health.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- BS Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- 8 years of engineering or aerospace experience, or 5 years with an advance degree
- Diverse Structures experience including analytical methods (FEA), hand calculations, and spreadsheet methods
- Experience analyzing strength, stress, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance
- Experience working to HSE rotating structures standards (disks or blades)
- U.S. Person or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and trending skills
- Advanced proficiency with ANSYS APDL and / or Workbench
- Advanced knowledge of LCF, TMF, HCF & FM failure modes
- Familiarity with P&W Structures tools and procedures
- Demonstrated leadership in engineering continuous improvement
- Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills

Hot Section Engineering (HSE)
Hot Section Engineering is responsible for the design, development, technology maturation and in service support of all diffuser cases, combustors, turbines (vanes, blades, rotors and cases), augmenters (military), nozzles and associated fuel systems for all military, commercial and industrial engine models and radial auxiliary power units.
Technical disciplines in HSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, Durability and Product Definition.
