The Assistant to the EMMI director supports the operations and programs of EMMI and the Elementary and Middle school. It is part time, two days a week, half days (4 hours) on Tuesday and Thursday morning-afternoon, with some flexibility needed to assist for concerts and other events. The assistant will work closely with EMMI director, Gina Coletti on a variety of administrative tasks and also on occasion be asked to cover for a performance class in any division of the school; elementary, middle or high school. This role involves administrative duties, logistical support, occasional teaching of performance classes, and assistance with musical preparation and event planning. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, a strong communicator, and passionate about music education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Music Director in preparing and organizing music classes and performances.
- Coordinate logistics for concerts, assemblies, and field trips, and tours.
- Communicate with parents, students, and faculty as needed regarding music department events and updates.
- Help with administrative tasks such as copying sheet music, maintaining calendars, invoicing and managing payments for services and merchandise, and writing up contracts for guest musicians.
- Arrange parts for students as needed. Use of Sibelius or Finale a plus.
- Provide basic musical instruction or sectional assistance when needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in music, education, or a related field required.
- Experience in a school musical environment, or professional music is a plus.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to read music and familiarity with multiple stringed instruments is highly desirable.
- Flexible schedule with availability for occasional evening or weekend events.
- Ability to lift and move musical equipment (with or without assistance).
Preferred Skills:
- Proficiency in a stringed instrument or piano.
- Experience working with children or teenagers.
- Basic knowledge of google docs, Microsoft Office and Sibelius or Finale
