About the role

Description

The student is responsible for leading group exercise classes offered to staff, students, and community members at Messiah University as part of the group exercise program offered by the Falcon Fitness Center

$15.00/hour

Primary Duties

1. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance
2. Assist in promoting the exercise class
3. Plan and lead safe, effective, and enjoyable exercise sessions
4. Show the wellness director exercise session plans upon request

Secondary Duties

1. Complete time sheet following exercise sessions
2. Report any problems or injuries immediately to the wellness director
3. Other duties as assigned

Experience Required

Students will be expected to have the appropriate certification to lead effective and safe exercise programs. Each certification will be specific to each position. The final approval will be given by the director of the fitness center.

Skills, Characteristics Required

Friendly, good communication skills, knowledge of safe, effective exercise techniques, good organizational skills, motivational, and enthusiastic about helping others improve their wellness through exercise.

Special Working Conditions

Classes will be offered at times that are most convenient to employees and students participating in the classes. In some cases that may be early morning, other times later in the evening. When music is used, it is expected to adhere to Messiah University guidelines for music used at public events.

Dress Code Requirements

Students will be expected to dress in appropriate attire for group exercise leaders. It is most important that the attire worn by exercise leaders is not distracting to those participating in the class. 

Specific expectations will differ according to the nature of the class being taught- but at all times the expectation is professional exercise attire.
