Job Description
AECOM Buildings + Places Boston/New England’s architectural practice includes aviation, transit, research/science, higher education and federal/state/local government projects. It is a dynamic, fast-paced design environment, client-focused and collaborative. Recent projects are multiple-award winners. We regularly work with other practices on the East Coast and are home to the region's urban design leaders.
AECOM is seeking a creative, experienced Associate Principal, Architecture to lead departmental team development as well as interdisciplinary building design projects. As Associate Principal, Architecture you will be responsible for overseeing all phases of the project lifecycle from conceptual studies through full design and construction administration as well as guiding others to follow best practices in the same.
You’ll lead diverse teams, organize and execute business development efforts, manage client relationships, and ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards, in coordination with the Managing Principal and other practice leadership.
.Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary client contact as needed, managing daily communications, expectations, and relationships.
- Lead and coordinate interdisciplinary teams through business development, project design and delivery.
- Set standard practices for the department where helpful, and mentor staff to improved performance as well as their chosen career path/development.
- Develop project execution strategies/plans, review contracts, and prepare fee proposals.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and quality across multiple complex projects.
- Track project performance, identify and mitigate scope changes, scope creep, delays, or quality issues.
- Manage sub-consultants: define scope, negotiate fees, track deliverables and performance.
- Oversee project documentation in compliance with AECOM’s project management framework for projects in any of a range of delivery modes – design-build, design-bid build, construction manager at risk, progressive design-build.
- Partner with Market Leaders, quality-assurance leads and Project Approvers to ensure technical and design excellence, client satisfaction, and financial success.
- Liaise with the managing principal to build a culture of thought leadership.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture plus eight years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- U.S. Citizenship
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 years of project management experience in transportation, infrastructure, or Federal architectural projects and experience in project leadership on complex architectural projects.
- NCARB Certification and LEED Accreditation.
- Proficiency in Revit and other BIM tools.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; adaptable to various audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience working with Federal or public sector agencies.
