Position Responsibilities:

  • Obtain work from the ready-to-work area as required and screen work orders (W/O) to ensure prior operations are completed.

  • Review work orders to identify tubing size and fitting or joint configurations for fusion welding.

  • Verify that issued tubes match the work order and obtain fittings according to drawings.

  • Access online computer equipment to review Boeing (BAC) specifications and drawings as needed.

  • Consult with supervision, leads, and other sources to resolve any issues that arise during the process.

  • Select the correct machine welding and support equipment, including jaw inserts, electrodes, gauges, jigs, and fixtures.

  • Set the electrode length or arc gap using the proper gauge and secure it with an Allen wrench.

  • Adjust the machine settings according to the welding setting sheet per Boeing (BAC) specifications.

  • Verify all machine settings, certifications, and gas flow rates before starting the welding process.

  • Measure and mark tubes according to drawings, cutting off excess material with a band saw as required.

  • Deburr and clean tubing ends, fittings, and rings with alcohol to eliminate surface contaminants before fusion welding.

  • Inspect exterior welds for imperfections such as inclusions, crater cracks, overlaps, and undercuts after welding.

  • Check interior welds using a visual borescope system for imperfections like inclusions and joint lines.

  • Document pertinent information into the system after job completion, including tube size, joint type, and date/time.

  • Maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) and certifications, handle hazardous materials appropriately, and ensure all welding tools and accessories are stored properly after use.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee
