Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking an energetic candidate to serve as the Office Assistant in Medical Records at Pontiac Correctional Center. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills and enjoy seeing tasks through from start to finish. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply!
Job Responsibilities
- Updates and maintains medical records for the Unit.
- Keyboards and distributes individual in custody call passes and paperwork for scheduled appointments within the Health Care Unit.
- Completes filing of medical information including diagnostic reports, medication sheets, and various pertinent correspondence in appropriate medical files of individuals in custody and employees verifying files are up to date.
- Assists in processing worker's compensation claims.
- Assists other Health Care Unit staff in the performance of duties and serves as back up to other Office Assistants.
- Processes and reviews all orientation charts.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties and responsibilities enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to two (2) years of secretarial/business college, or completion of high school and two (2) years of related office experience, or two (2) years of independent business experience.
- Requires ability to keyboard accurately at 35 words per minute.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of the position held, is prohibited.
