Business Operations Manager, Supplier Advertising & Merchandising Services

Supplier Advertising & Merchandising Services (SAMS) is responsible for the strategy and sales of self-service sponsored listings (Wayfair Sponsored Products, WSP), on-site and off-site display ads (Display), Wayfair Sponsored Shops (WSS), and Supplier-funded marketing (SFM, comprising event sponsorships, email, print catalog, etc.). Our mission is to drive commercial and operational excellence across a suite of advertising offerings and advise suppliers how to use these effectively to grow their businesses on our sites. 

 

We are looking for a Business Operations Manager to offer data-driven solutions to problems posed by stakeholders across the company, and optimize processes across our commercial efforts. Our work is challenging, high-impact, and heavily relied upon for strategic decision-making. This role provides significant exposure to senior leadership and opportunities to work with a variety of cross-functional partners across Commercial and Technology organizations. A successful Business Operations Manager is driven, flexible, able to think on their feet and solve ambiguous problems creatively. They have demonstrated skill with technical tools and processes through project management, data analysis, or other similar experience. Business Operations Managers must be detail-oriented and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. 

 

What you’ll do: 

• [Finance] Monitor financial health of all service offerings within SAMS by streamlining the invoice process and ensuring payment collections in partnership with Finance and Accounting teams across Wayfair
• Examples: Forecasting N8Q for FRM, Managing P&L, Monitoring Wallet Health, Enabling better payment methods (Voucher Deduction, Advertising Allowance, SAP integration, etc.), Invoice Management (Coupa)  
• [Sales Enablement] Own and drive growth roadmap for SAMS, partnering closely with the team’s Analytics, Sales, and Program leaders to tailor our product offerings to a specific strategy and target audience to ensure we can meet sales targets efficiently 
• Examples: Supplier Target Setting & Sales Funnel Tracking, Account Segmentation & Management Model
• [Platform Operations] Serve as a thought partner with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to identify areas of opportunity, define / execute tracking plans for the toolset, and influence prioritization decisions with data 
• Examples: Salesforce, Partner Home, Waystation  
• [Lead & Manage] Contribute to the development of new tools, processes, and technologies while managing and developing a team, including coaching, onboarding, and training
• Examples: Would manage one direct report 

 

What You'll Need

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or other quantitative field required
• 5+ years of work experience in a relevant field, ideally in business operations, corporate finance, sales strategy, startup/tech, and/or advertising  
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communication style based on the audience
• Strong business acumen with demonstrated experience leveraging data to solve problems, tell a story, and impact overarching strategy
• Proficient knowledge of Excel / Google Sheets required 
• Familiarity with SQL / Eden, Google Cloud Platform, and visualization tools, such as Google Data Studio, Looker, or similar is preferred, but not required
