Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems offers an excellent opportunity for a Sr Principal Cyber Systems Engineer – Cyber Security Tester (25-476) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This role, located in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, is essential in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

 

This position does not include relocation support and requires working on-site with no remote options.

 

Position Overview:

 

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital part of the Missile Defense System. It provides an essential operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively manage networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, delivering an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It functions as a force multiplier by linking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to improve overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a key component of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.

We are seeking a Senior Principal Cyber Systems Engineer to join our team. This role demands a highly skilled professional with deep expertise in Cybersecurity engineering and testing methodologies, capable of solving complex problems in a fast-paced DoD operational computing environment. The ideal candidate will be a versatile contributor who thrives in collaborative environments and demonstrates innovation, leadership, and adaptability.

Essential Functions:

 

The Senior Principal Cyber Systems Engineer will be responsible for: 

  • Designing, developing, testing, certifying, and delivering secure systems as part of an integrated Cybersecurity team

  • Performing unit-level, art-level, and solution-level release testing

  • Managing testing activities at the Cyber Test Facility (CTF)

  • Utilizing their thorough knowledge of cybersecurity tools, patch management solutions, and security auditing tools to develop secure system designs

  • Providing input and interpretation of Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements, including success criteria

  • Writing concise test steps, generating other technical documentation, and maintaining adherence to Common Criteria, NIST, and National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) methodologies

  • Collaborating effectively with systems engineers, software developers, and network engineers

  • Leveraging change and configuration management systems to coordinate updates and maintain version control

  • Thorough understanding of RMF and the ability to interpret requirements

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and automated testing frameworks

  • Experience implementing best practices in Common Criteria, NIST, and NIAP methodologies

  • Competency in writing test cases and creating relevant
