As Senior Director, Construction Strategy, reporting to the VP of Construction Strategy & Partnerships, you will be the maestro orchestrating Autodesk’s long-term vision for the construction industry. This role combines high-level strategic thinking with on-the-ground decision-making. You will evaluate big moves like buy vs. build, steer market analysis, and influence our approach to the industry’s most complex challenges.

You’ll work with teammates across the globe and will travel up to 30% of the time for face-to-face meetings like conferences, team offsites, and customers. We prefer for this role to be hybrid to our Boston office, but we are open to anywhere in the US or Canada remote. Relocation offered. 

Responsibilities

• Strategic Master Planning: Lead the development of Autodesk’s construction strategy, aligning market opportunities, customer needs, and long-term business objectives

• Buy vs. Build Decisions: Dive into the details of whether to acquire, build, or partner on new capabilities, weighing innovation speed, ROI, and competitive advantage

• Market Mapping: Keep a pulse on the construction landscape, identifying emerging trends, competitive threats, and disruptive technologies that Autodesk needs to tackle head-on

• Product Portfolio Evolution: Shape the future of our construction solutions by ensuring they solve real-world challenges faced by general contractors, specialty contractors and capital project teams within Owners

• Data-Driven Insights: Establish frameworks and metrics to measure the success of strategic initiatives, and pivot as needed based on results

• Cross-Team Leadership: Work closely with product, engineering, sales, marketing, and customer success teams to turn big ideas into actionable plans and measurable outcomes

• Customer Whisperer: Build deep relationships with industry leaders to understand their pain points and ensure our tools solve their toughest challenges

• Industry Evangelism: Represent Autodesk as a thought leader at events, in publications, and during high-profile engagements with key customers and stakeholders

• Team Builder: Inspire and lead a team of brilliant minds who wake up thinking about how to make construction more efficient, sustainable, and awesome

Minimum Qualifications

• Construction Expertise: 15+ years in construction, technology, or strategy roles, with a deep understanding of the industry’s nuances and opportunities

• Team Leadership: 5+ years of experience in managing and leading high performing global teams

• Strategic Wizardry: A proven ability to craft and execute strategies that drive tangible results

• Analytical Prowess: Experience evaluating market opportunities, assessing buy vs. build scenarios, and using data to inform high-stakes decisions

• Tech Fluency: Familiarity with construction technologies, trends, and digital transformation strategies (bonus points if you’ve implemented them!)

• Collaborative Leadership: A knack for leading cross-functional teams and influencing senior stakeholders with confidence

• Bold Communicator: Exceptional ability to present big ideas with clarity, precision, and a touch of humor—whether it’s to executives or industry audiences
