Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel West Virginia is seeking candidates for the position of Cold Mill - Galv Entry/Exit Operator. This operator will support the Cold Mill - Galvanizing efforts to become the world's safest steel company. This position is an integral member of the Cold Mill - Galvanizing team and will be responsible for leading the efforts to continually improve our safety, profitability, and operational innovation. This will include engagement in a culture of ownership, communication, and teamwork. The Entry/Exit operator role and responsibilities support feeding and removing coils off of the mill and managing the systems associated with these tasks.

 

This greenfield project is a new state-of-the-art sheet steel mill that will produce up to 3 million tons per year once fully operational. This advanced manufacturing facility is to be located in Mason County, along the Ohio River in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV. 

 

$115,000.00-$130,000.00 (Compensation Range varies based on experience and is a full compensation package including a variable incentive during construction phase.)

 

 Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Two years of manufacturing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in Steel surface and quality inspection including defect identification.
• Experience in Galvanizing, Pickle Lines, Tandem Cold Rolling, Reversing Cold Rolling/Tempering, Annealing, Roll Shops
• Sheet mill experience
• Prior construction/project experience
• Experience with Micrometers and Tape Measures
• Basic understanding of how automation works (Sensors, sequences, and control loop).
• Basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Basic understanding of chemical solutions management.
• Basic understanding of mechanical troubleshooting (pumps, valves, cylinders)
