The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our US E-7A Mission Systems Software team within the Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) organization in Tukwila, WA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work with a team in a casual but professional environment where there is long term potential for career growth. Additionally, the software engineer will lead a small team to implement software solutions to a wide range of complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation. The successful candidate should be adaptable to new development environments, eager to work with and learn new technologies and be capable of leading a small software team to complete its mission. This software supports both domestic and international customers and is developed using the Agile software process.
The US E-7A program seeks a senior software engineer to lead the design, development, integration, test, and documentation of software focused on data fusion. The Fusion team develops and maintains a complex set of software applications responsible for mission critical functionality. The Fusion Team is responsible for onboard and offboard report-to-track association and track-to-track correlation/fusion/identification functions, track manager functions, radar, IFF and datalink track processing.
Position Responsibilities:
Leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software systems
Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system
Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met
Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities
Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics
Plans, executes and documents software research and development projects
Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations
Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards
Works under minimal direction
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.
Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance (Post-Start).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
5+ years of software development work experience in C++
5+ years of software development work experience in Linux/Unix
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
5+ years of software development in trackers, fusion engines or related technologies including algorithms, software design and testing.
Experience in Agile software development methodology
Experience in Amazon Web Services software development environment
Experience in military mission systems development
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemist
