Facilitate transition for patients into the D ukeUniversity HealthSystem (DUHS) from referring agencies (hospitals, cl inics, etc.) inaccordance with patient needs and the Emergency Medical T reatment andLabor Act (EMTALA) guidelines; act as an ambassador to DUHS throughexcellent customer service to internal and external customers;coo rdinate patient flow based on patient and operational needs; Providenurs ing services to patients, providers, and families in accordance withthescope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

1. Expert level of clinical decision makin gbased upon Benner'sNovice to Expert Nursing Theory.2. Systematic proces sing of patient acuity and triagingof multipledemands.3. Provide guidan ce to internal and external customers to facilitatesafe patient and oper ational needs.4. Anticipate potential safety concerns and identify high riskpatient situations and intervene or escalate as needed.5. Engage in excellent written and oral communication skills with afocus on professio nalism and customer service.6. Excellent phone etiquette.7. Navigate com plex systems and processes to maintain patientcentered care.8. Collabora te with multiple members of a care team (internal andexternal) to facili tate patient care needs.9. Support health system operational needs durin gmasscasualty/disaster events.10. Coordinate with multiple operational t eams (Patient Placement,Operations Administration, Life Flight Communications, etc.) to plan fortimely transfer and appropriate bed assignment.1 1.
