HVAC Technician – JLL
What this job involves: The HVAC Technician is essential to maintaining optimal climate control and mechanical systems across JLL's commercial properties. You'll be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of complex HVAC equipment that keeps buildings comfortable, energy-efficient, and operationally sound. This role requires technical expertise in sophisticated mechanical systems including chillers, boilers, air handling units, and refrigeration systems. You'll work with cutting-edge building technologies while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards. What your day-to-day will look like:
Monitor, adjust, and maintain air handling equipment, refrigeration systems, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, VAV systems, and process chillers to ensure optimal performance
Manage refrigerants in compliance with New Jersey and EPA requirements while maintaining accurate usage and inventory records
Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on variable frequency drives (VFDs) on HVAC units and pumps to maximize energy efficiency
Install and repair plumbing, piping, tubing, electrical controls, and motor systems while running conduit and pulling wiring to machinery and operating components
Monitor and repair boilers, ventilation systems, hot water heaters, pumps, valves, and filters while recording readings and making necessary adjustments
Perform routine facility repairs including sheetrock patching, caulking, painting, lock repair, and general maintenance tasks
Operate specialized equipment including man lifts, scissor lifts, and forklifts while working safely at heights and in confined spaces
Required Qualifications:
Proven experience with air handling equipment, refrigeration systems, DX systems, and chiller operations in commercial environments
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and analyze complex mechanical and electrical systems to determine root causes and implement corrective actions
Experience with refrigerant management, EPA compliance, and maintaining accurate environmental records
Proficiency in electrical work including single and three-phase motors, control systems, and VFD maintenance
Ability to work safely at heights, in confined spaces, and while wearing personal protective equipment including respirators and safety harnesses
Valid certifications for operating man lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts, and respirator equipment
Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to rebuild pumps, motors, air compressors, and heat exchangers
Preferred Qualifications:
HVAC technical certification or trade school diploma with focus on commercial building systems
EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigerant Handling Certification
Electrical or plumbing trade certifications or apprenticeship completion
Experience with building automation systems and energy management technologies
Knowledge of state and local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental compliance requirements
Previous experience in large commercial buildings, industrial facilities, or multi-tenant properties
Location: Pennington, NJ
Work Shift: Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 4:00 pm.
