Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking mechanical engineers to fill the role of Production Asset Engineer to support the equipment used in the production of wings for the 737 program. As an Equipment Engineer, you will support and implement a variety of production assets featuring automation on various scales that assist in the production of the 737. This equipment is constantly reviewed for improvements resulting in increased production safety, quality and efficiency, working alongside experts in the automation industry.
A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. They will also have a strong desire to be out in the factory, interacting with mechanics, safety, and equipment services, and directly supporting the production system. Primary Responsibilities:
This is an equipment and tooling development, implementation, and improvement role. Your duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Evaluates program and project requirements, develops complex equipment concepts and designs solutions for the Production System. Examples include automated drill and fill machines, positioning systems, AGVs, vision systems,
- Compiles and analyzes technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design, usability, and rate estimates.
- Investigates and develops basic to moderately complex equipment concepts and specifications to satisfy aerospace product design and build requirements.
- Creates specifications, purchase requests and usage instructions for equipment.
- Create and revise engineering models and drawings (CATIA) and documentation for new and existing equipment.
- Assist maintenance mechanics in trouble-shooting and repair of equipment.
- Collaborate with production to design and implement engineering equipment solutions to production issues ensuring compliance involving safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements.
- Project management: Oversee budget and schedule to deliver equipment solutions on time and on budget.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Work Authorization Statement:
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in an engineering discipline
- Minimum 1 year of experience with production systems in a manufacturing or engineering capacity
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 3 or more years of experience working in a production environment
- 3 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3 or more years of CATIA V5 solid modeling experience
- 2 or more years of experience PLC, CNC, HMI, or robot programming, commissioning, and maintaining experience in automation industry
- 2 or more years of pneumatic fluid power systems design, commissioning, and maintaining experience in automation industry
- 1 or more years of experience working with hardware configuration management
Typical Education/Experience:
- Associate Level: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
