Sentara Medical Group is seeking an NP or PA with Obesity Medicine/ Internal Medicine or Family Practice/Endocrinology setting experience to join the Comprehensive Weight Loss Solutions- Kempsville team.
Position Highlights:
●Monday- Friday 8am-4:30pm
●No Call
●Hybrid model- a mix of in person patient care and telehealth
- Provide evidence based care for patients seeking weight loss options with medication management using FDA approved anti-obesity medications, and ability to identify OTC medications/supplements/vitamins that may influence weight
- identify barriers to medication adherence and use behavior change counseling techniques when formulating treatment plan with patient through motivational interviewing
- Assign meal plan along with diet/nutrition counseling
- Educate patients on benefits of intensive, comprehensive treatment and lifestyle modifications while incorporating cultural considerations into treatment plans
- Problem-solve with patients to address barriers to treatment and refer to services to address social barriers (SNAP, WIC, Behavioral Therapy, PT/OT/Speech and other medical specialties as needed.)
- Maintain professional credentials,
- participate in continuing education in obesity medicine,
- Evaluate new and emerging scientific evidence in obesity in partnership with collaborating Physician and peers
●1-2 years of experience highly preferred
