Your role at Clorox:
The Clorox Company is seeking an experienced Legal Operations Specialist to handle the full scope of our department’s financial management. This role will begin as a tactical, individual contributor position with the potential to become more strategic over time. The position reports to our Senior Director, M&A and Legal Operations.In this crucial operational role, you will manage all aspects of Legal’s billing and spend management including, but not limited to, the following: setting up new matters, ensuring invoices are paid, coordinating with attorneys, accounts payable and law firms, and managing periodic strategic projects related to outside counsel management. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to rethink and provide insight regarding critical processes. You will also work closely with our Finance department on budgeting, forecasting, accruals, accounting controls, and similar matters.
Finally, this role will involve frequently reporting, both formal and informal, to departmental leadership and will be responsible for driving visibility into legal spend. For that reason, this position will require excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to create compelling visual representations of our spend data.
The successful applicant will be an Excel wizard who enjoys learning and becoming an expert in a variety of software tools and systems, has strong attention to detail, crisp analytical skills, and the ability to self-start and work independently.

In this role, you will:
- Oversee Legal Billing (40%), including all aspects of our e-billing system, Brightflag.
- Identify discrepancies and work with Finance to resolve issues.
- Manage outside counsel and third party spend, regularly providing reports to legal leadership (30%).
- Provide insights to help drive improved service and cost reduction.
- Manage Finance & Accounting Activities (30%), including quarterly and year-end accruals and budgeting processes.
- Review and reconcile Brightflag invoices against payments made in SAP.
- Perform accounting controls requested by Finance.
What we look for:
- BA/BS required. A certificate from an ABA-approved Paralegal training program shows a commitment to the profession but is not required and does not take the place of Legal Operations work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Legal Operations professional or billing administrator in a corporate law department or at a law firm. Prior experience with budgeting, legal technology, and financial reporting strongly preferred
- Experience with legal e-billing and corporate invoicing systems (Brightflag and SAP preferred). Must have experience with creating budgets and tracking spend.
- Strong working knowledge of legal technology, Microsoft Excel (i.e. pivot tables, charts, formulas), Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Smartsheet, Microsoft Forms, and Power Point. Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and/or Microsoft Power BI is also required.
- Enthusiastic member of and participant in the culture of the Legal department.
- Have attention to detail with the ability to stay organized.
- Must be a self-starter and be able to follow-through with minimal direction, displaying judgment and initiative.
- Be willing to analyze and solve novel issues; not afraid of ambiguity.
- Must have solid verbal and written communication skills.
