Overview
Provides Behavioral Health focused healthcare and performs selective medical services under the direction of supervising physicians on the Inpatient, Outpatient, BH Observation units, Telepsych consults service and/or Emergency Department in the Psych ED and WL ED.Talent Pool: Advanced Practice Provider
Responsibilities
Obtains complete medical history and physical data on patient. Completes PAA and obtains and reviews patient records when needed. Provides telepsych consults, admission and discharge services on all inpatient units, including BH Observation unit and WL Psych ED. --------------------------------------------------Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed.--------------------------------------------------Performs a complete physical exam and records findings. Establishes presumptive diagnosis.--------------------------------------------------Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.--------------------------------------------------Prepares written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances.--------------------------------------------------Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.--------------------------------------------------Assists physicians by recording patient progress notes, issues diagnostic orders. Performs independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.--------------------------------------------------Triage telephone calls from patients, families, nurses, consultants, and colleagues. Provides consultation services and/or Telepsych consultations.--------------------------------------------------Participates in professional development activities, and maintains professional affiliations. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. Maintains information in a confidential manner, in accordance with State, Federal and Practice guidelines.--------------------------------------------------
Qualifications
EDUCATION:Required:Graduation from an accredited Physician?s Assistant Program or Master's Degree in Nursing as appropriate to certification.Preferred:Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
EXPERIENCE:One year in inpatient medical practice, RequiredExperience in ambulatory primary care environment, PreferredPreferred:Previous experience as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIREDDrivers License | Valid Drivers LicenseBLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider PA | Physician AssistantNP | Nurse PractitionerCurrent certification as a Physician?s Assistant or as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of North Carolina; Current DEA registration.A current American Heart Association (AHA), Basic Life Support (BLS) card for Health Care Provider is required.APPs become IVC (Involuntary Commitment) certified within 90 days of employment.PREFERREDCurrent Psychiatric certification preferred/ Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurse orNational Certification - ANCC PMHNP
