Position Overview


The School of Music at The Ohio State University seeks to hire a 9-month full-time Lecturer of Collaborative Piano starting August 15, 2025. This appointment is for one year with possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funding.

The School of Music is seeking candidates with a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring student enrolled in a broad range of different degree programs at both the undergraduate and graduate level and seeks a collaborative colleague with exemplary communication skills, and the ability to contribute to the intellectual and cultural life of the University.

The successful candidate will play an important role in enriching the experiences of students from the Keyboard Area and various studios in the School of Music through performances and mentorship as they pursue a diverse range of academic and professional goals. The School of Music values the richness that comes from varied cultural, social, and intellectual experiences and is committed to creating a welcoming and supportive community for all.

Performance Objectives

  • Demonstrate expertise in the art of collaborative piano performance and perform in lessons, studio classes and recitals with students and faculty in the School of Music
  • Demonstrate expertise in coaching chamber music with piano and instruct undergraduate and graduate piano majors in group settings to develop the art of collaborative performance and coaching
  • Make appropriate repertoire assignments for piano students who are enrolled in small ensemble courses and who serve as collaborative pianists in instrumental and vocal studios in the School of Music
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate piano majors in developing skills as collaborative pianists.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required: Master of Music required. Demonstrated evidence of successful teaching in higher education, and a record of professional performance experience.

Desired: Doctor of Musical Arts preferred. A collaborative piano disposition is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to building a culturally diverse intellectual community in line with Ohio State’s Shared Values.
