What do we need?
We are building out our Machine Learning team to accelerate our workflows, support better decision making, and enable out operations teams to focus their time on higher value work. As a Senior Data Engineer - ML, you would be responsible for building our data infrastructure on our Azure data platform to support our Machine Learning team both for specific ML projects and as a generalizable platform to support up as we scale. Additionally, you would work closely with the CPO and Director of Data Science to build out our machine learning function.
Requirements
What will you provide?
- Responsible for collaborating with our Machine Learning engineers to build the right data infrastructure to support ML operations, including data pipelines, data stores, APIs, and appropriate monitoring and alerting on our Azure data platform
- Collaborate with CPO and Director of Data Science on Aspirion’s overall ML and data strategy
- Work with relevant product squads to deliver pipelines and other technical components required for specific product initiatives that include machine learning elements
- Design a data architecture that supports our ML needs including exploratory data analysis, training data management, and model monitoring in production
- Work with Director of Data Science to prioritize opportunities based on value, effort, risk, and alignment with Aspirion’s enterprise strategy and goals
- Establish baselines for key infrastructure operational metrics and align opportunities to metric-driven outcomes
- Team with designers, engineering leads, data scientists, business SMEs, other product managers, and key stakeholders to win as a team
- Contribute to a culture of psychological safety, empathy, and excellence within the ML team and product squads
Professional Competencies
- Data engineering to support ML teams including ETL pipelines, SQL and NoSQL database management, data lake and data warehouse design, job scheduling, monitoring, and alerting
- Data architecture and domain-driven schema design
- Fluent in Python, SQL, Command Line tools, and other relevant data engineering languages and frameworks
- Ability to design data systems that meet relevant SLOs for reliability, performance, and other non-functional requirements as needed based on the project
- Deep familiarity with cloud-based data engineering practices on one of the major cloud providers with a preference for Microsoft Azure and Databricks
- Experience with serverless architectures and containerized environments
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and modern DevOps and DataOps practices as they relate to data engineering
Education and Experience Qualifications
- 7+ years in a Data Engineering role
- 2+ years in a Data Engineering role supporting a Machine Learning team
- Bachelor’s degree
