A Brief Overview
Performs radiographic and other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries by performing the following duties.

Experience Qualifications

  • 2 years Two years’ experience in hospital/clinic. Preferred


Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Technologist - ARRT Also requires a KS Rad Tech License within 60 days of hire. Required
  • Basic Life Support - BLS


What you will do

  • Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures. Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy. Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.
  • Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Operates mobile radiologic equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside.
  • Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed. Performs office work including, but not limited to, answering phone, obtaining information from computer, and ordering departmental supplies.
  • Provides a positive image to customers by creating a friendly atmosphere and placing a high priority on meeting customer needs in a courteous manner. Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician.
  • Assist in training students and/or new staff.
  • Responds to needs and is knowledgeable of appropriate care for school-aged through gerontological patients.
  • Measures and mixes barium and contrast media.
  • Adheres to staffing and scheduling practices.
  • Seeks opportunities to improve knowledge base by attending departmental meetings, in services and other educational activities. Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
