Job Description Summary

The new Director of the Chief Learning Officer Executive Doctoral Program will lead the program beginning in summer 2026. The successful candidate will build on the strengths of this important program while also bringing new vision and deep commitment to quality, innovation, and impact.

Job Description

The Chief Learning Officer (CLO) Ed.D program is a three-year doctoral degree designed for senior leaders from various professional backgrounds. It delivers a rigorous academic program in an executive format focused on integrating theory with business practice. Students hone skills in strategic management, leadership, fostering inclusive environments, and evidence-based decision making. More than 250 students from over 35 countries have graduated from the program, representing Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, philanthropies and health care

The Director will:

  • be responsible for the overall direction of the program and its outcomes and guide the program into the future as a premier offering among executive leadership programs nationally and internationally
  • collaborate closely with Admissions on student recruitment and yield, with Development and Alumni Relations on alumni engagement and stewardship, and with Marketing and Communications on program marketing and promotion
  • develop a supportive student community and offer an intellectually challenging experience for students from recruitment and admissions through alumni engagement
  • collaborate with existing faculty and recruit new faculty to envision and implement a rigorous, exemplary and relevant curriculum with outstanding instruction
  • support the ongoing professional and intellectual development of faculty teaching and advising in the program
  • improve and update program operations, manage staff, and oversee budgets, and
  • enhance and secure its reputation as a preeminent higher education doctorate program.
  • teach one course (1 cu) in the program and chair dissertation committees. Opportunities to teach under designation as a Senior Fellow will be available to interested and qualified candidates.

The Director will also contribute to the overall direction and mission of Penn GSE. The School offers eight executive format doctoral and masters’ programs for working professionals that are seeking to advance as leading practitioners in their field. The Director of the Chief Learning Officer Executive Doctoral Program will also serve on the Executive Programs Leadership Team.
