Title: Historic Preservation Senior Manager

Reports to: National Program Manager, State AmeriCorps

Status: Full-Time Permanent

Salary: $66k - $80k Annually

Location: Remote (some travel required)

 

 

Position Summary

The Student Conservation Association (SCA) has a mission to create the next generation of conservation leaders. The SCA’s commitment to guiding new and increasingly diverse generations towards conservation and historic preservation has never been more important or relevant to the communities in which we serve. To help advance this work, SCA seeks a dynamic and passionate Historic Preservation (HP) Senior Manager. This position will work cross-departmentally to lead the development, continuity, and synergy of all SCA HP programming.

 

The SCA provides an array of historic preservation programming across the country. The HP Senior Manager will have three primary responsibilities: 1) Design and develop SCA’s historic preservation program, 2) Grow SCA’s historic preservation portfolio and impact, and 3) Support SCA staff responsible for program delivery. This position regularly collaborates with SCA’s Program Leadership Team, VP of Philanthropy, VP of Partnership, and others to ensure program effectiveness and to advance partner relationships across the country. The HP Senior Manager will report directly to a member of SCA’s Program Leadership Team. Starting date is flexible, with potential to begin as early as late February 2026.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

Design and develop SCA’s historic preservation program

  • Serve as SCA’s HP subject matter expert and support effectiveness of HP program.
  • Develop and update internal policies, procedures, and best practices related to HP.
  • Liaise with SCA’s Risk Management department to monitor incident trends across HP to inform program design and training.
  • Develop specialized HP curriculum, member training schedules, and skills assessments in consultation with program partners and SCA program staff.
  • Where applicable, collaborate with SCA’s Education & Training department to develop HP courses.
  • Work closely with Office of Communication in developing and updating HP outreach materials.
  • Help identify which programs would make a good fit for SCA’s AmeriCorps program.
  • Use lessons learned from existing crews and interns to support new HP program development.
  • Inform SCA’s larger workforce development strategy and approach with the trades.
  • Support SCA’s goals around justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

 

Grow SCA’s historic preservation portfolio and impact

  • Participate regularly in Partnership Team meetings.
  • Lead development of national and local, place-based proposals that build relationships with partners and funders.
  • Serve as SCA’s primary liaison with the National Park Service’s Historic Preservation Training Center (HPTC) to advance the Traditional Trades Advancement Program (TTAP), Maintenance Action Teams (MAT), and other programs.
  • Develop HP program budgets, with significant Salesforce and quote building support from Partnership.
  • Support SVP of Program to help integrate into HP programs into SCA’s larger suite of program offerings.
  • Cultivate existing and new collaborations with other organizations whose expertise contributes to SCA’s HP programs.
  • Support philanthropic proposals to advance HP, often serving as match to reduce the cost to local partners.
  • Assist the SCA AmeriCorps Director with any HP-related grant applications and the annual continuation process.
  • Represent SCA in national collaborations and diverse public settings, including at events and conferences, on webinars and videos, and in meetings with partners.
  • Conduct program site visits in coordination with partnership and project partners and SCA’s risk management department.
