Club Figure Skating Head Coach

Position Summary

The University of Denver is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Club Figure Skating Coach to lead our Club Figure Skating team for the 2025- 2026 season. This position requires an experienced coach with a strong background in figure skating and experience coaching at a high level. The ideal candidate will foster a supportive, disciplined, and motivating environment to help student-athletes reach their full potential.

This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year.

Essential Functions

• Assist the head coach in planning and running two weekly practices (2 hours each)
• Attend and support team at weekend events and tournaments (travel required)
• Provide constructive, individualized, and team-wide feedback to enhance performance
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Strong leadership skills
• Has a passion for working with athletes
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster team spirit, motivate athletes and conflict resolution skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on the team's training and competition schedule.
• Knows how to balance fun with competitiveness and wants the players to enjoy their experience on the team.

Required Qualifications

• Familiar with US Intercollegiate Figure Skating rules
• Experience coaching all levels
• Willing to travel with the team & put skaters on the ice for competition
• Able to assist in choreographing programs and teaching pattern dances
• Willing to collaborate with the board and president in decision-making processes, including (but not limited to) determining event starts
• USFS Coach Compliance and Regulations (ex. SafeSport, Liability Insurance, etc.)
• First Aid/CPR/AED Certification (able to be acquired within first 30 days of employment)
• CDC Heads Up Concussion Training Certification (able to be acquired within first 30 days of employment)

Work Schedule

• This position will average 8-15 hrs/week.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, based on the team's training and competition schedule.
• Able to commit to traveling to away games, 2-3 weekly practices each week in the evenings and weekends for games.
• Ability to coach from September to end of March (no coaching during summer or winter break).

Hourly Range

The hourly range for this position is $20.00-$25.00.

The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting.
