JOB SUMMARY

Provide leadership, planning and oversight of the Reload train distribution process embedded within the Company’s Automotive business unit, including tactical distribution of 69,000+ railcars in the national Reload multi-level fleet. Manage distribution of empty railcars utilized by participating railroads and automotive manufacturers at over 200 loading locations across North America. 

This position requires a thorough understanding of railroad operations along with associated industry rules and regulations.  Must be able to interpret, work with and incorporate network models based on empty railcar flows, shipper forecasts, and other tactical KPIs into the day-to-day distribution process. Individual will be expected to develop and maintain a respectful working relationship across multiple layers of railroad/ customer management levels, and help represent each the Company, group and railroad interests on various industry committees and sub-committees.

Oversees special projects as they materialize. Travel may be required (up to 15%).

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Direct the empty distribution efforts of the national Reload multi-level pool

·         Interface with railroads and auto companies to solve day-to-day distribution issues

·         Attend AAR meetings to ensure proper representation on relevant Automotive rail industry committee, including (but not limited to): EAC, MUAR, SEFCC, TIPT and VEQ

·         Review network distribution models as to empty railcar flows, shipper forecasts, fleet size reports, and daily reports in support of the multi-level fleet

·         Ensure shipper and railroads adhere to pool rules and distribution instructions and that railroads are treated equitably in distribution plans

·         Must have a general understanding of and/ or familiarity with AAR Car Service Rules

 

QUALIFICATIONS

·         Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university, MBA or Graduate Degree preferred

·         10+ years’ related experience

·         Ability to prioritize multiple tasks according to urgency and department objectives

·         Able to thrive both in a team environment and work autonomously

·         Ability to develop positive, collaborative relationships with internal and external customers

·         Ability to manage difficult situations and conflict

·         Ability to inspire teamwork toward the continued success of the company

·         Ability to speak Spanish preferred
