Position Summary
Penn Foster's Accounting team delivers high-quality financial reporting, analysis, and decision-support information for business leaders while ensuring compliance with external reporting requirements. As a key member of the Treasury, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable functions, the Senior Treasury Accountant serves as a trusted business partner by providing timely and accurate cash reporting, liquidity analysis, and treasury support that enable informed business decisions.
This role is responsible for daily cash position reporting, cash forecasting, treasury operations, account reconciliations, variance analysis, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. The Senior Treasury Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of cash-related financial information across multiple entities and bank accounts while supporting the organization's liquidity management and operational effectiveness.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, detail-oriented treasury and accounting professional who demonstrates strong ownership, accountability, and a sense of urgency. This individual must be comfortable working independently in a dynamic environment, proactively identifying issues, investigating discrepancies, and driving solutions with minimal direction. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, treasury expertise, reconciliation experience, and a continuous improvement mindset, including leveraging technology, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy.
Essential Job Functions
• Prepare and communicate daily, weekly, and monthly cash forecasts to support liquidity management, capital planning, and strategic decision-making.
• Monitor daily cash positions across multiple entities and bank accounts, ensuring adequate funding to support payroll, accounts payable, and ongoing business operations.
• Prepare and distribute daily cash position, cash availability, and disbursement reports to Accounting leadership, FP&A, and executive stakeholders.
• Support treasury operations, including cash transfers, banking transactions, account funding activities, debt service activities, and administration of bank accounts and related documentation.
• Perform cash, bank, credit card, and balance sheet account reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Analyze variances between bank activity, subsidiary ledgers, and the general ledger; prepare journal entries and corrective actions as needed to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Collaborate closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, FP&A, and Accounting teams to investigate transactions, resolve reconciliation issues, and support business operations.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities by ensuring treasury-related deliverables are completed accurately and within established deadlines.
• Support interim and year-end external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to audit requests.
• Research accounting and treasury-related issues and assist with technical accounting matters as needed.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and internal controls related to treasury and cash management activities.
• Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements to enhance treasury operations, strengthen internal controls, improve reporting efficiency, and leverage automation and AI-enabled solutions.
• Support special projects, system implementations, and ad hoc financial analyses for management and executive leadership.
• Serve as a trusted financial partner by delivering accurate, timely, and actionable financial information to business leaders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) designation strongly preferred. CPA certification is beneficial but not required.
• 4+ years of progressive experience in treasury, accounting, or finance roles, with direct experience managing cash forecasting, cash positioning, treasury operations, and reconciliations.
• Public accounting experience is a plus.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems such as Dynamics 365, NetSuite, AS400, or similar ERP platforms. Dynamics 365 experience strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of cash management, liquidity forecasting, treasury operations, and reconciliation processes.
