Shipping Department - Team Leader

Department: Shipping/Receiving

Summary: Plans, directs, apply lean concepts, and coordinates assigned shipping and receiving activities by performing the following primary duties individually and/or through the team effort. Reports to the Operations Manager.

Primary Duties:

•  Promotes the personal and professional welfare of the people in his/her charge
•  Embodies the Demco STRIVE values
•  Provides and receives 360 degree feedback
•  Is aware of how his/her department functions in and enhances Demco operations
•  Promotes and develops more effective and efficient Demco (not just departmental) operations
•  Develops and implements methods and procedures for the continuous improvement of the manufacturing activities using lean concepts.
•  Directs and promotes safety awareness and implements processes to ensure safety
•  Directs and promotes the team effort in problem-solving and the sharing of information
•  Directs and promotes accurate inventories
•  Prepares and monitors key manufacturing operations measurements, taking corrective action when necessary
•  Plans and communicates the manufacturing operations schedule
•  Directs efforts to meet the manufacturing operations schedule on time using lean concepts.
•  Determines and implements training programs
•  Provide common direction being responsive to the needs of the employee, coaching as needed

Requirements

Qualifications/Experience:

•  Good written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
•  Self-motivated with good judgment
•  Excellent math problem-solving skills
•  Computer knowledge
•  Requires five years minimum experience in manufacturing operations or 2 years of previous supervisory experience
•  Advanced education preferred
•  Planning and project management skills
