We are seeking a Senior ITS Traffic Engineer / Project Manager to join our ITS team in Orlando or Tampa, FL.
Our teams are currently delivering exciting, nationally important and industry-leading infrastructure projects, including roadways, toll facilities, transit, sustainable solutions, and transportation technology projects. The role of technology and the benefits it can unlock for our transportation clients continues to be an exciting growth area for AtkinsRéalis, and in response to this, we are developing new technical solutions to meet the challenges and opportunities provided by intelligent mobility.

How will you contribute to the team?
- Defines scope of project, with full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and
- executing project assignments.
- Selects problems for investigation, developing novel approaches and solutions to
- technical problems.
- Conducts quality control checks, reviewing calculations, designs, evaluations, and
- specifications developed by design staff for accuracy and completeness, performing onsite inspections and reviews, and conducting or overseeing remedial design work.
- Keeps abreast of state-of-the-art methods and developments in area of specialization.
- Recommends changes or improvements to plans and programs.
- May function as the project manager for routine to semi-complex projects.
- Responsibilities may include marketing, negotiating contracts, budgeting, financial
- management, schedule coordination and resources allocation
- Perform ITS/Traffic Engineering and design assignments of a varied nature to support federal and state agency, tolling authority, and local municipality clients.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert in the implementation and design of technology-based roadside system – including CCTV cameras, dynamic message signs (DMS), vehicle detection systems, wrong-way vehicle detection systems (WWVDS), Connected Vehicle roadside units (RSU), roadway weather information systems (RWIS), Smart Work Zone (SWZ) solutions, fiber optic communications, Layer 2/3 networks, and more.
- Develop release for construction drawings and specifications for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, lighting, safety, and maintenance of traffic for transportation projects.
- Review project submittals, including conceptual, preliminary, and final ITS/traffic plans. Confirm compliance with state and federal design criteria and standards. Record review comments and confirm compliance to comments with responses and subsequent submittals.
- Assist in performing post-design oversight such as shop drawing reviews, field visits, and construction requests for information (RFI).
- Perform basic project functions of production coordination, planning, organizing, and marketing assistance.
- Contribute expertise in advanced concepts and techniques to solve unconventional problems.
- Ensure work produced is technically accurate and delivered in accordance with the appropriate standards.
- Coordinate with internal project staff, subconsultants, and clients.
What will you contribute?
- B.S. or M.S. in Engineering. M.S. or graduate level technical coursework preferred.
- This level may be achieved by Engineers with ten (10) years of experience since B.S. or nine (9) years since M.S.
- Typical incumbent has 15 to 20 years of experience.
