tk1sc, a WSP USA company, is seeking a Consultant, Building Technology Systems for the following location: Riverside, CA.
The tk1sc Senior Electrical Engineer shall provide and participate in decision making for all project-related issues of entry to mid-size in revenue earnings as well as possess a full understanding of the client’s project requirements. This position has high a level of responsibility of interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating engineering projects of entry up to mid-size. The Senior Electrical Engineer plans, develops, coordinates, directly in both small and mid-size projects in scope and level of importance. This individual engages in all aspects of the mildly complex project, providing leadership and decision-making when required and has an advanced knowledge of the technical expertise required to design and implement the particulars of the project. Strong contract administration skills are a must.
Your Impact
- Collect, compile, and analyze data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, flow diagrams, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for project development, design, and installation.
- Perform professional building technology work and conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, layout, usage, and systems to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, and installation or operating permits.
- Participate in incorporating advanced technology, modeling techniques, concept development, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to account for the proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems according to specifications; implementing future-ready solutions with smart building technology design standards.
- Participate in verifying the characteristics of a site and providing technical assistance on various design, installation, and integration issues relating to creating state of the art smart buildings using a converged network approach, AV/telecommunications, and intelligent systems that make predictive and automated decisions that impact building capabilities, safety, and security.
- Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team to execute project work, assist with laying out installation of equipment, calculating costs and quantities of material/equipment/labor, and ensuring project work conforms with specifications, permit applications, schematics, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.
- Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, sketches, calculations, technical drawings, spreadsheets, and 2D/3D illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.
- Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements and calculations, statistical analysis, and reporting.
- Assist with development and scoping of small- to medium-sized projects.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical reports and presentations that explain research and findings to navigate, improve, prevent, control, restore, or address design and/or installation issues or opportunities.
- Conduct technology studies and surveys to gain further information on a particular design and construction problem or issue and/or to plan for future needs.
- Assist in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of data obtained during site investigations, offering input with developing action plans for low to mid-level risk installation, equipment operations, and/or mitigation activities.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs).
- Work collaboratively with other professionals, engineers, inspectors, project control, and technicians on building improvement and development projects.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in closely related discipline or equivalent years of experience.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in an AV and Telecommunications discipline with prior smart building technology design experience.
- Knowledge of building technology principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.
- Experience with building planning, design, and installation management; including renovation and new design projects.
