Your Role on Our Team:

As a Principal BI Engineer, you will play a key role in defining and executing the technical strategy for business intelligence across the team. You will lead the delivery of high-impact analytics solutions, mentor other engineers, and serve as a strategic partner to business, product, and business intelligence engineering stakeholders. Your deep expertise in data architecture, technical craftsmanship, and business acumen will help ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable BI products that drive value.

You’ll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities: 

  • Lead Business Analytics Development: Design and deliver end-to-end data solutions, including data models, reports, and dashboards tailored to the needs of business partners across functions.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Serve as a trusted analytics partner to HR business leadership and COEs, understanding their business needs and translating them into data strategies and products.
  • Data Stewardship & Governance: Strong understanding of data governance practices, with experience handling sensitive employee information in accordance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Data Security: Demonstrated ability to implement and follow role-based access controls, audit trails, and secure data practices when working with confidential HR data.
  • Automation & Efficiency: Create scalable pipelines and automation that streamline the delivery of recurring business metrics and eliminate manual reporting.
  • Insights & Storytelling: Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights using visual storytelling techniques that inform strategy and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Advanced Analytics: Support workforce planning, compensation analysis, and predictive modeling initiatives by collaborating with Data Science, Data Engineering, and Talent Analytics teams.
  • Tool Ownership: Lead the deployment and optimization of BI tools like Power BI or Tableau data visualization, and partner with IT to manage backend infrastructure (Azure, Databricks).
  • Project Management & Delivery: Manage project workflows using agile methodologies, lead sprint planning and review sessions, and ensure timely delivery of analytics solutions aligned with business priorities.
  • People-Centered Design: Ensure insights are accessible, equitable, and designed to empower leaders with intuitive, story-driven visuals.
  • Estimation and Planning: Contribute to high-level estimation, sprint planning, and strategic roadmap decisions by aligning architectural direction with business priorities.
  • Measuring Impact and Business Value: Develop and champion frameworks for measuring business impact and data value realization, aligning technical execution with key performance outcomes
  • Fostering Data Driven Culture: Mentor team members and shape data training strategies that promote a data-driven culture and self-service BI enablement across the business.

The TOOLS you’ll bring with you:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, HR Analytics or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Years of Experience: 8+ years of BI or data engineering experience. Experience with HR, People Analytics, or Workforce data a plus.
  • Advanced Power BI Expertise: Deep knowledge of Power BI, including report creation, data visualization, DAX calculations, and publishing dashboards to deliver actionable insights.
  • Data Modeling and SQL Proficiency: Expertise in designing scalable data models and advanced SQL skills for querying, transforming, and analyzing data.
  • Azure Ecosystem Knowledge: Hands-on experience with Azure services for managing cloud-based data platfor
