We are seeking a talented and experienced Unix System Administrator - 4589 to work remotely for  Flemish government.

Job Responsibilities

• System Configuration and Maintenance:

  • Configure and maintain Unix-based operating systems, ensuring proper functionality and optimal performance.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and system security settings.

• System Monitoring and Troubleshooting:

  • Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and troubleshoot issues to ensure uninterrupted system operation.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring tools to proactively identify and address potential problems.

• Software Installation and Updates:

  • Install, update, and configure software applications on Unix systems.
  • Ensure that all software is up-to-date, addressing security vulnerabilities and compatibility issues.

• Backup and Recovery:

  • Implement and manage backup procedures to safeguard critical data.
  • Develop and test disaster recovery plans to ensure system resilience in the event of data loss or system failure.

• Security Management:

  • Implement and enforce security policies to protect Unix systems from unauthorized access and potential threats.
  • Regularly update and patch the system to address security vulnerabilities and maintain compliance.

• Networking: TCP/IP, snmp, LAN, WAN, ...
• OS: Linux Redhat 7 and 8
• OS: Solaris 11
• OS: ESX 7
• SAN storage (DELL/EMC Unity, Powerstore)
• Knowledge of ITIL
• Possession of VMware/Linux certifications is a plus.
• Demonstrable experience as a System Administrator (setting up, managing, and maintaining systems)
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience, at the level of a systems engineer, in at least one of the specialized systems: Unix/Linux/Windows systems, Mainframe systems, application middleware (web and application servers, ...), security systems, network and communication systems, generic or specialized systems and platforms (e.g., AD, LDAP, email, Sharepoint, Documentum, ...)
• Demonstrable experience with ICT infrastructure solutions
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of relevant ITIL processes (especially regarding change management).
• Language requirement: Dutch-speaking at European CEFR - level C2
