We are seeking a talented and experienced Unix System Administrator - 4589 to work remotely for Flemish government.
Job Responsibilities

System Configuration and Maintenance:
- Configure and maintain Unix-based operating systems, ensuring proper functionality and optimal performance.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and system security settings.

System Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
- Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and troubleshoot issues to ensure uninterrupted system operation.
- Implement and maintain monitoring tools to proactively identify and address potential problems.

Software Installation and Updates:
- Install, update, and configure software applications on Unix systems.
- Ensure that all software is up-to-date, addressing security vulnerabilities and compatibility issues.

Backup and Recovery:
- Implement and manage backup procedures to safeguard critical data.
- Develop and test disaster recovery plans to ensure system resilience in the event of data loss or system failure.

Security Management:
- Implement and enforce security policies to protect Unix systems from unauthorized access and potential threats.
- Regularly update and patch the system to address security vulnerabilities and maintain compliance.

- Creation, management, and migration of virtual machines
- User, group, role, and permission management
- Monitoring storage resources
- Snapshots / disaster recovery
- vCenter Server
- High availability clusters
- SRM
- Networking: TCP/IP, snmp, LAN, WAN, ...
- OS: Linux Redhat 7 and 8
- OS: Solaris 11
- OS: ESX 7
- SAN storage (DELL/EMC Unity, Powerstore)
- Knowledge of ITIL
- Possession of VMware/Linux certifications is a plus.
- Demonstrable experience as a System Administrator (setting up, managing, and maintaining systems)
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience, at the level of a systems engineer, in at least one of the specialized systems: Unix/Linux/Windows systems, Mainframe systems, application middleware (web and application servers, ...), security systems, network and communication systems, generic or specialized systems and platforms (e.g., AD, LDAP, email, Sharepoint, Documentum, ...)
- Demonstrable experience with ICT infrastructure solutions
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience of relevant ITIL processes (especially regarding change management).
- Language requirement: Dutch-speaking at European CEFR - level C2
