The CNE adjunct faculty member is responsible for delivering high-quality education to nursing students on a part-time basis. This role involves teaching, mentoring, and supporting students and collaborating with full-time faculty to enhance the nursing program. Adjunct faculty members are expected to bring current clinical expertise into the classroom and clinical settings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) AND enrolled in a graduate degree program with a major in nursing (within 12 months of hire)

OR

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and ten (10) years clinical experience

2. Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).

EXPERIENCE:

1. Two (2) years of clinical nursing experience in teaching

To be completed as established by department: (Administered at Department level) 

1. BLS certification from American Heart Association

1. Master of Science in Nursing

1. Previous teaching experience in a nursing program

1. Acts as a professional role model to all nursing students by following and reinforcing documented policy and reflecting the mission and vision of the school of nursing.

2. Assumes responsibility to stay abreast of current nursing practice to enhance knowledge and clinical expertise in areas/topics of assigned teaching responsibility.

3. Presents theory in an organized, understandable manner including application activities and interactive learning strategies using assorted, appropriate teaching modalities.

4. Guides students to develop critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills in the clinical/simulation setting.

5. Supervise students during clinical practice and provide guidance in clinical settings

6. Promotes and guides students to develop and utilize the nursing process and clinical judgement through clear examples and feedback.

7. Provides clinical/simulation learning activities utilizing a variety of teaching strategies appropriate to the environment, the learner, and course outcomes (sim/skills teaching).

8. Provide feedback on student performance and support their professional development.

9. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

10. Collaborate with full-time faculty to ensure course content is up-to-date with current nursing practices and standards, nursing program curriculum, and student level.

11. Teaches up to 15 contact hours per semester in the classroom setting (fall, spring, and summer semesters)

12. Maintains accurate records of student performance and attendance.

13. Submits grades and other required documentation in a timely manner.

14. Works effectively, respectfully, and appropriately as a member of the team.

15. Participates in curriculum planning and development.

16. Participates in departmental meetings and training sessions.

17. Performs all other duties as assigned, contributing positively and fairly to all processes.
