Material Handler

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensuring orderly production and distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies where needed, and staging finished product final distribution. 
• Contributing to the orderly operation of stock and/or materials storage area. 
• Maintaining inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording the location of inventory, and reporting shortages. 
• Locating materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders. 
• Maintaining in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies. 
• Locating and packing materials for shipping. 
• Documenting materials and records units delivered and location of units. 
• Receiving credit-return material and supplies from production by verifying materials and supply codes, lot numbers, and quantities. 
• Preparing finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing products. 
• Documenting product shipment by recording units shipped. 
• Maintaining material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections and making operator repairs. 
• Operating pallet jacks, and other machinery to move items, or signaling machine operators to move materials onto and off trucks, ships, and loading docks. 
• Keeping inventory, loading areas, and machinery clean. 
• Opening containers, sorting, and cataloging materials. 
• Learning and adhering to workplace safety regulations. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• A high school diploma or GED.
• 2 years of experience working as a material handler.
• Adeptness at handling multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
• Proficiency with prioritizing tasks and meeting multiple deadlines. 
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• A process improvement mindset.
• Knowledge of inventory control. 
• The ability to lift heavy materials. 
• Data entry skills and the ability to read and analyze information. 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• Previous stock or inventory experience.
• Previous experience operating a forklift or pallet jack.
