A Glimpse of the Job
The selected candidate will work in-person at the Marine Toxicology Lab at Texas A&M University at Galveston. The candidate will assist with preparing, analyzing and identifying metabolite biomarkers that are diagnostic of the physiological condition of the animal. Training will be provided in the conduct of all methods.
Essential Duties/Tasks
Metabolomics analysis and Lab work - Prepare hepatic tissues for LC-MS/MS analysis.
Metabolomics Analysis - Analyze data from LC-MS/MS and identify metabolite biomarkers.
Additional Assistance - Assist other laboratory personnel. Perform additional tasks to further the research program of the Marine Toxicology Laboratory.

Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field
Preferred Qualifications
Prior animal physiology/biochemistry knowledge and involves the targeted metabolomics analysis of hepatic tissues from common bottlenose dolphins.
Experience working in a laboratory.
Able to follow protocols and quality control procedures to ensure the validity of test results.
Adhere to health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of basic computer operations.
Skill in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
Skill in effective verbal and written communication with co-workers Skill in the use of a personal computer.
Skill in effective work habits, performing tasks efficiently, and following directions.
Ability to function in a team environment and be an effective team member.
Ability to collect and record data and maintain records.
Knowledge in the use of laboratory safety standards.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs
