About the role

Summary

The Director of Fleet, Equipment, Facilities & Maintenance is a highly operational, hands-on leader responsible for both the strategic direction and day-to-day execution of fleet, heavy equipment, facilities, and maintenance operations across Alaska and the Lower 48. This role functions as a working director, actively engaged in operational problem-solving, resource coordination, and field support in addition to leadership responsibilities.

 

This position will play a key role in building and formalizing an enterprise-wide fleet and asset management function, operating with a high degree of autonomy within a developing structure. The Director partners closely with executive leadership and operational teams to establish standards, processes, and scalable infrastructure to support long-term organizational needs.

 

The role oversees operations of significant scale and complexity, including a diverse fleet of vehicles, heavy equipment assets, maintenance operations, and multi-site facilities supporting remote, industrial, and project-based environments. The Director is accountable for asset lifecycle management, operational readiness, safety, compliance, and cost-effective performance across all areas of responsibility.

 

The salary range for this position is between $154,504.00 - $196,221.00 per year.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Asset Management

  • Lead the development and implementation of enterprise-wide strategies for fleet, equipment, facilities, and maintenance operations in support of organizational objectives.
  • Establish and formalize asset management programs, including lifecycle planning (acquisition, utilization, maintenance, replacement, and disposal).
  • Develop and implement standards, policies, and procedures to support consistency, scalability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Evaluate operational performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Support organizational growth through equipment forecasting, infrastructure planning, and scalable operational design.
  • Provide leadership with reporting and recommendations on asset performance, capital planning, and operational strategy.

Fleet & Heavy Equipment Operations

  • Oversee fleet and equipment operations, ensuring readiness and availability to support project and operational demands.
  • Optimize deployment and utilization of vehicles, trailers, commercial trucks, and heavy equipment across multiple business lines.
  • Monitor asset performance, including utilization, downtime, and maintenance trends, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure operational support for remote and seasonal Alaska projects, including logistics planning and field service coordination.
  • Coordinate emergency repairs, recovery efforts, and field response activities to minimize operational disruption.

Maintenance & Shop Management

  • Provide oversight of maintenance operations, including shops, field service teams, and third-party providers.
  • Establish maintenance standards, preventative maintenance programs, and quality control measures to maximize reliability and uptime.
  • Oversee repair prioritization, scheduling, and workflow to ensure efficient execution.
  • Manage vendor relationships, parts procurement, inventory levels, and warranty administration.
  • Support development of workforce plans, training priorities, and resource needs as the function continues to scale.

Facilities & Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee maintenance and operations of company facilities, including shops, yards, warehouses, offices, and remote camps.
  • Ensure facilities are maintained in safe, compliant, and operationally effective condition.
  • Coordinate facility maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Support expansion efforts, mobilization activities, and site development planning across operating locations.

Safety, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Promote and reinforce a culture of safety across fleet, equipment, maintenance, and facilities operations.
